LOCAL GREEN HOMES OPEN THEIR DOORS TO VISITORS
Have you ever thought about making green improvements to your home but needed ideas or more information? We are running a Green Open Homes weekend from Friday 2nd to Sunday 4th October where householders who have made energy and environmental improvements, large or small, are opening their doors to share their experience and their homes with other local people interested in installing green home improvements.

A quarter of the UK’s carbon emissions come from energy used in the home and with average energy bills topping £1,200 a year making energy efficiency improvements at home can make an important contribution to both cutting carbon emissions and energy costs. West Cornwall has some of the highest levels of fuel poverty in the UK and with many households across the area are struggling to pay increasing energy bills and keep their homes warm, there is an urgent need to find ways to save energy and cut fuel bills.
Over the weekend we’ll be showcasing a range of homes with all types of improvements, from properties who have installed an energy efficient log burner or carried out simple draught proofing measures to those who have invested in technology such as renewable energy systems and electric vehicles, so whatever improvements you may be considering there should be an ‘open home’ available to suit you.
Green Open Homes is funded by the Department of Energy and Climate Change, and supported locally by renewable energy technology installer, Natural Generation.
