“POWER TO PENWITH” EVENTS

Wed 25th March – Mon 30th March 2015

With the help of funding from the Department of Energy & Climate Change we are holding a series of events in Penzance and St Ives.

Energy Cafes

WCCR will be holding 3 drop in sessions where members of the public can chat with energy experts over free coffee and cake and find out answers to questions about their energy bills, from whether they could save money by switching energy supplier to finding grants and finance options for installing energy efficiency improvements and renewable technologies. At the events there will also be the option for people to join our energy monitor loan scheme to help them better understand how much their home costs to run.

The drop in ‘energy cafes’ will be held between 5.30pm – 7.30pm at the following venues:

  • Wednesday 25th March, The Front Room, Market Jew Street, Penzance
  • Thursday 26th March, Cafe Art, Chapel Street, St Ives
  • Monday 30th March, The Front Room, Market Jew Street, Penzance

Film Screening

As well as the drop-in sessions, WCCR will also be hosting a free screening of the Matt Damon fracking-themed blockbuster ‘Promised Land’ at The Redwing Gallery (36A Market Jew Street) in Penzance on Friday March 27th at 7.30pm (doors open 7.00pm), open to anyone interested in finding out more about the Power to Penwith project. Thirty free tickets (including free popcorn) are available on a first-come, first-served basis and can be reserved by emailing info@wc-cr.co.uk.

Learning Lunch

A ‘Learning Lunch’ aimed local support agency staff and landlords, will be held on Thursday 26th March at Mackerel Sky Café in Penzance (45 New St, TR18 2LZ)

We aim to put together a focused, relevant and accessible programme designed to fit into a long lunch break. The session is free and will include short learning sessions from WCCR, Cornwall Council’s Private Sector Housing Team and National Energy Action and will cover:

  • How to identify people at risk of fuel poverty;
  • The advice, support and funding available to the people of Penwith to help make their homes warmer and more affordable;
  • Tackling fuel debt;
  • Simple energy advice messages.
